Amateur Dramatics

Forfar Rotary invests in Amateur Dramatics.

This week was a first for Forfar Rotary when President Elect Paula Elvin presided over the meeting, the first lady member to do so in the clubs history.

Paula introduced the speaker for the night, Martin McKay – Vice President of the Forfar Dramatic Society who joined us to tell us about the Forfar Dramatic Society's aspirations for the future.

Established in 1930, Forfar Dramatic Society has been bringing high quality amateur theatre to the stage in Forfar for more than 80 years. The Societies premises in East High Street were in much need of attention and they were delighted when they were awarded funding to the tune of almost £35,000 towards the on going conversion of the Society clubroom into a Studio Theatre. Work is now set to continue over the forthcoming months.

Further funding will be required to complete the project, however, this award will allow much of the infrastructure to be completed.

Rotary presented a cheque for £500 to assist with this local gem and urge the public to recognise and support The Dramatic Society in future Productions by mearly attending.
