Cheques From Santa ??

Rotary Says Thank You

Forfar Rotary were pleased to welcome to their meeting, representatives from various groups who assisted with the visits Santa made throughout the town in the lead up to Christmas. Traditionally the Rotary Club has arranged for the annual switching on of the lights and the visit from Santa to the Cross. This year they took on the role previously  done by the Round Table in having Santa visit as many of the Forfar streets as possible. This would not have been possible without assistance from other local organisations ( as listed below) and it was felt that it has had a positive effect in opening up the work of Rotary. It has forged a relationship with other clubs all with a common goal, that of   fund raising. It is with gratitude that they and Forfar Rotary thank the Forfar public for their generosity in these times of austerity. The total donated by the door to door collection was £2900 an amount that was way beyond expectations.
The amounts to each of the groups are listed and they in turn are pledging their support for the same in 2012.

Not only have the public of Forfar donated to this but they have also, without any coercion been contributing to the Wishing-Well that the Rotary Club has had sited within the Forfar Tesco Store. This was a new venture and the club wish to thank Tesco Manager Callum Telford for kindly allowing this project which will be a permanent fixture for the foreseeable future. In the space of around 4/5 weeks the public astounded us by freely donating £372.73.
Rotary President Mike Cumming had this to say,”we know we keep asking for contributions and we are arranging to donate even more money into the community but this would not be possible without the continued help from big hearted Forfarians”
