Classic Way to Raise Funds

A CLASSIC WAY TO RAISE FUNDS

Forfar Rotary’s Strathmore Classic Car Tour was blessed with a sunny day to run the event which will see the money from the success of Sundays event go to the children’s hospice organisation CHAS.

Cars arriving at the starting point from 9.30am for registration and interested spectators gathered to view the array of cars which were due to depart at 10 am. waved off every 30 seconds by President Tim.

The lunch stop was destination was the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford where the cars were arrayed round the oval track making an excellent view in the sunshine. If you have never been then its a very worthwhile drive up the Alford. After lunch the tour route then made the return via the scenic Cairn O Mount culminating with the impressive drive down to the equally impressive Glamis Castle.

President Tim said “ This years event has put us back on track after the disappointments of the covid pandemic preventing the tour taking place. We are relived that there was still a lot of enthusiasm for the event as the entry forms rolled in. He also thanked the Main sponsors the Fisken Motor Group and Guild Homes without whom we would never achieve the success of the fund raising event.”

“Forfar Rotary are pleased to announce £8.5K was raised on the day, but when gift aid is realised it could reach £9.5K. A cheque presentation of the total to CHAS will be announce in the near future. One of the entrants James Arnot from The Rotary Club of Angus Glens was most disappointed as he failed to start the tour because of mechanical problems. However he turned up at Glamis to present us with a cheque for £775 of sponsorship.”
