New Members Sought

Forfar Rotary Seeks New Members!

We are looking for new members to join Forfar Rotary Club! Some aspects of life in Forfar just wouldn’t be the same without Rotary and we need your help to keep making those memories and helping people. So, if you feel you can spare some time to help out with community projects and events plus attend regular meetings (some by Zoom) then we would be delighted to hear from you.

What does it mean to be a Rotarian?

Being a Rotarian means to be actively involved in the community and service projects of the local Club. Rotarians look for ways to get involved and offer support, in order to help others.

Becoming a Rotarian connects you with a diverse group of capable people who share your drive to ‘give back’. Through regular meetings and events, you will discuss the community’s needs and develop creative ways to meet them. We also assist in international projects and work alongside other Rotary clubs, both locally and worldwide.

Since lockdown we had already achieved the following starting with the provision of Face Masks to Care Homes etc.

1) Santa Sleigh fundraiser around the town – proceeds for local clubs & charities

2) A visit from ‘Santa’ at the Cross - another fundraiser for the local community and also working with Primary Schools so that every pupil receives a personal Santa Letter

3) Primary Schools Laptop Appeal - donating ICT provision to schools and pupils in need

4) Entertaining at the Thursday Club

5) Appeal for Ukraine - sending clothing and goods to Ukraine via an HGV vehicle.

6) Involvement with funding and building the Community Skiff - helping people learn about the advantages of rowing.

7) Strathmore Classic Car Tour - raising £1000s for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS)

Working with Forfar Academy pupils to increase leadership skills by organising places on RYLA (Young Leaders skill and participation weekend)

9) Local Litter Picking – participating Club members fondly call themselves ‘The Forfar Wombles’!

10) Manning the payment kiosks at Glamis Extravaganza to raise funds

11) Collection of ‘Used tools’ for Africa

12) Planting of Purple Crocuses to promote Rotary’s ‘End Polio Now’ campaign

We need you to come along and offer your skills, talents and time so we can continue to be a thriving, active, relevant club, offering support and care to the community of Forfar and International aid. Please consider joining us and we promise you will be assured of a friendly welcome.
