Vietnam here we come

Forfar Rotarians were treated to a talk by possibly their youngest ever speaker when Iona Nicoll at age 14 proved that age is no barrier. Most Rotarians can remember school trips that would take them to exotic places like Braemar, Aviemore or an Angus Glen but Vietnam ?? Never.

But this, is what this young lady, a pupil at Forfar Academy is currently fundraising for.

Her talk was given confidently in an informative manner in which her personality shone through. She explained about her fund raising to date which varied from animal care to waitressing. Self help is another way of creating good relationships in the community and Rotarians were sure that during her trip to Vietnam she would be a good ambassador for Forfar and Scotland as well as enriching her own life.

Saigon may be a city renamed but our “Miss Saigon” will leave her mark in the world as she grows and matures.

President Bill Reid echoed the words given in the vote of thanks and wished her well and commenting “ We look forward to hearing about her trip in the future”. Well done Iona
