Forfar Academy and Assist DG.

This week at Forfar Rotary Club the emphasis was definitely on youth as the club played host to pupils and staff from Forfar Academy.

Club President Scott Ballantyne welcomed the group as well as the not so youthful Mike Robins the Assistant District Governor who was there on official business.

The contingent from the Academy were there to be rewarded for their efforts in various ways, Kieran Robertson and Eric Brown who will represent the Club at this years RYLA camps which is an activity week in leadership skills etc. The Sports Award winner was Andrew Montgomery and Sophie Fitzpatrick was the recipient of the Technology Award. They were accompanied by Jane Esson the Depute Rector and Anne Callander PT, Pupil care and Support.

After the meal and a short presentation on the work of Rotary they left the meeting which was then given over to Club business. Starting with the details of the forthcoming new Rotary year, president elect Alan Cairns asked each convenor for details of their planned programmes for the next twelve months. It will be a busy time and in common with all organisations there is a call for new members looking to assist in the community through Rotary. Any interested parties should contact the club via a member of the club or by the club website www.forfarrotary.org.uk

Assistant DG Mike Robins gave his summary on the planned programme for 2014 /2015 and complemented the club on its polished and very professional presentation and felt that the enthusiasm within the club will see many if not all of the projects coming to fruition.

Before the close of the meeting Mike presented President Scott with a certificate marking the clubs membership retention which was the best within the 1010 region.
