Young Rotarians.

Forfar Rotary President Mike Cumming has a pleasant duty to perform when two new members were added to the ranks. The most pleasing aspect of their induction was the fact that they are both very much in the lower age group, so maybe the members will be able to listen to News on the Street instead of reminiscing all the time. The club welcomed the newcomers Fiona Cameron sponsored by David Valentine and Calum Telford who was sponsored by Ian Findlay.

Fiona works with Angus Council where she is Senior Strategy and Employability Officer a title that sound impressive but has a person of vitality at its helm. Fiona is excited at the prospect of being involved with Rotary and has already been making a start to her involvement in the club where she will serve on the Community and Vocational Committee.

Calum is the Manager of the Forfar Tesco store and is very keen to be involved in the community and with Rotary he sees this as his chance to make a valuable contribution. The Tesco store already houses the Rotary Wishing-well thanks to Calum, it is already proving a success and a favourite if the kids needing to place “pennies in the well” Calum will serve on the International Committee.

Such is their enthusiasm that both have been co-opted onto the Marafun 2012 committee where their assistance in this bi-annual event is much needed. To organise this event takes every Rotary Member to assist as well as calling on others to help in making it as huge a success as in previous years. To be held on 27th May, new for this year is the introduction of a Half Marafun as well as a chance for clubs, charities and organisations to run for their own cause.
