BREAKFAST TIME SUPPORT

Forfar Rotary Club’s speaker this week was Gill Lawrie who talked with great passion of the work done to educate children where their food comes from. President Doug McFarlane presented her with a cheque for £250 to the Royal Highland Education Trust Angus Countryside, a charity which has the aim of bringing farming and food production closer to schoolchildren. There is a huge gap in today’s knowledge regarding farming in all its activities to produce food and how it reaches our table.

The money will be used for purchasing cutlery and melamine crockery to enable volunteers to continue the Farmhouse Breakfast Week in Dundee and Angus, where P6 pupils can sample healthy breakfasts, much of which is locally produced. This will give the pupils insights into farming and of production of food. The “Farmhouse Breakfast Week” usually takes place at the end of January.
