28 April 2019Friendship Dinner

FRIENDSHIP DINNER

On Friday 26th of April, Forfar Rotary held its 4th Friendship Dinner at the Rupali Palace in East High Street.   A company of 44 – made up of Rotarians, wives, partners and guests - enjoyed a very convivial evening, starting at 7pm till the last ones left after 11pm!

The Rupali once again supplied an excellent 3 course meal with tea & coffee.  This consisted of a choice of 4 starters (pakoras, bhajis, samosas and poppadum accompanied by salad, chutneys and raita).   This was followed by 6 different curries - lamb, chicken & vegetarian options, some hot and some mild to suit the various tastes with rice and copious amounts of naan bread.

During coffee, International Committee members, Mike Cumming and Katherine McLean, organised a round of “Heads & Tails” to augment the funds raised on the night.  In his welcome, International Committee Convenor, Tim Hale, explained that once again the money raised on the night would be going to Malawi – this year to buy two Shelter Boxes, which will help the people of Malawi overcome the disaster of the recent flooding caused by Cyclone Ida.

President Elect Doug McFarlane thanked the International Committee for organising the event and all those who attended and for giving generously for a very good cause.

Our sincere  thanks to the staff at the Rupali Palace for looking after us during the evening
