A Purple Path

A Purple Path

There is no Yellow Brick Road but there is a Purple Path in front of the FOGS Garden in Lochside Road. This has been created by Forfar Rotary donating and assisting in the planting of 5000 crocus corms to provide a spring display by adding a bit of colour in front of the garden.

This will become even more pronounced as they naturalise and spread in years to come.

It was no accident that the choice of colour was all purple as the crocus corms are part of an Rotary awareness programme to promote the Purple Pinkie scheme to the world in the quest to eradicate polio. When children receive their vaccination they have puple dye applied to their pinkie so that no child is missed in the remote parts of the world where polio is still a threat. The aim is to make the world a polio free environment.

So if you see onother 5000 puple crocuses in bloom elsewhere around the town be it in public places or Rotarians gardens then you know the reason.
